MOVIE LOCATIONS, THEN AND NOW:

The Blob 1958

Picture
Picture
This is the Doctor's house in the movie. Actual location: Phoenixville Pennsylvania.
Picture
Obviously it has been painted different colors over the years, probably to keep people like me from stopping and taking pictures of the house.
Picture
Walking out of the Theater in the movie.
Picture
                                Same shot today 2009.
Picture
One of the most famous scenes in the movie.
Picture
There she is, The famous Colonial Theater in Phoenixville Pennsylvania. They have Blob Fest annually where they show the film and re-enact the famous running out of the Theater scene.
Picture
Look how fake the background looks. Obviously they shot the Blob in front of a picture showing the Colonial Theater.
Picture
                                Similar shot today 2009.
Picture
Going into the Market in the movie.
Picture
They totally reconstructed the entire outside of the building and it looks nothing like it did in the movie today.
Picture
It still looked like this when I was a kid in the 80's. This is in my hometown of Royersford Pennsylvania.
Picture
Like I said, It looks nothing like it did in the movie, but that's it, That is where they filmed the Market scenes.
Picture
"Mystery Street" as it is called, My grandparents lived on this street right behind where the camera is shooting this scene.
Picture
Royersford Pennsylvania. It looks almost identical today. Another movie coming out soon called "The Lovely Bones" filmed by Peter Jackson was also filmed in this spot. I was standing on top the building where the stairs are watching them film the movie. Mark Wahlberg came up and talked to us for a little bit in between shooting.,
Picture
The famous Downingtown Diner, I just recently moved really close to this spot. It is on Rt. 30 in Downingtown.
Picture
Like the Market place location, It has totally changed. The building in the movie was moved, to be in other movies I think the story goes, and now stands this building which is now called Chef's. This is where they filmed the Diner scenes.

Dawn of the Dead 1978

Picture
Picture
George Romero must have really liked this spot, because it is in a lot of shots in the movie.
Picture
                                 Here it is again.
Picture
                                       And Again.
Picture
I took a trip to Pittsburgh with some friends a few years back and we went to the Monroeville Mall where the movie was filmed. It looks the same today as it does in the film. I took these pics with my phone. There is a shrine in the mall somewhere with zombies on the picture stating that the movie was filmed there.
Picture
There's that damn escalator again shot on the top floor of the mall.
Picture
There it is again from behind.
Picture
This is at the end of the movie when all hell breaks loose.
Picture
Same exact shot I took with my phone.
Picture
                              Random shot in the film.
Picture
Another random shot, wanted to show you how identical the place looks today.
Picture
Picture I took with my phone. As you can see, the place looks the same. I know the shots don't match up here, but you get the idea.
Picture
Taking over the mall in the film.
Picture
These are not the same stairs as the shot on the left, but they look similar as hell.

Evan Almighty 2007

Picture
Picture
This is in Waynesboro Virginia. My grandparents lived here for years. My Grandfather actually owns a restaurant on this street further up. Every summer I would visit my Grandparents and I have driven on this road hundreds of times.
Picture
Same shot, I took this pic on my way up the Blue Ridge Mountains. Looks like the store kept the sign the prop department gave them.
Picture
                                  Again the same area.
Picture
I actually bought my first guitar amp here years before the movie was filmed here.
Picture
A closer shot of the music store.
Picture
This shot is on the same road as the previous shots, this is a real movie theater. My Grandparents took me here to see movies when I would visit them. I can remember seeing "The Nutty Professor" here.
Picture
The Hummer is heading towards my Grandfathers restaurant.
Picture
Identical shot I took while driving. This was taken a few years ago and the movie theater was under construction. I visited my Grandparents last summer, and the theater was still under construction.
Picture
On top the Blue Ridge Mountains in Virginia. The view  and the sights are amazing.
Picture
There's me, this pic looks identical to the one on the left.
Picture
My Grandparents and I on the set way back in 1988!  I'm the little boy on the left wearing all blue!!!!!!
Picture
This is the first sight seeing spot on top of the mountains. The sign shows you how high up you are. I' ve been coming here since I was a little kid. I've taken many of my old girl-friends to this place. You take them here, and your definitely gonna score.
Picture
This shot is a combination of real life and digital effects. The rocks are real, but they are higher up on the mountain. They also digitally changed the landscape and put a river running through the middle of the shot.
Picture
This is how it looks in real life. As you can see, there are houses and there is no river running through the middle.
Picture
A closer look at the landscape that didn't make it into the movie.

The Happening 2008

Picture
Picture
Taking refuge in the Filbert Diner in the movie.
Picture
For a long time, they kept the Filbert sign up but recently changed it. Larry's Automotive still kept there sign up.
Picture
Mark Wahlberg walking towards the restaurant.
Picture
Same shot as the one on the left.
Picture
Scene in the movie, Rt. 724 in real life.
Picture
                                 Rt. 724 in the movie.
Picture
RT. 724 in real life. I know the pics don't match up, but you get the idea.
Picture
Close up shot of The Berg in movie.
Picture
                                Driving away in movie.
Picture
                          Driving further away in film
Picture
Identical shot I took of Rt. 724
Picture
Leaving his Daughter behind in movie.
Picture
You can actually read the sign here.
Picture
Gardener's house in the movie. I used to live about two miles from those power plants. I've been staring at them for years. My Dad at one time worked there when he was  younger. I hope he didn't pass on any Radiation to me.
Picture
Looks Identical today as it did in the film.
Picture
                                                                                             Another shot.
Picture
The Berg inside the green house.
Picture
Obviously I couldn't go inside, so I took an outside picture. Notice the back of the giant fans that appear in the shot to the left.
Picture
The characters inside the green house.
Picture
Again I couldn't go in, so here it is from the outside.

Marley and Me 2008

Picture
Picture
These are my former stomping grounds. This is in West-Chester Pennsylvania. I Attended college here for two years. I have walked this street many a times blacked out drunk. It was a time I'll never forget, if only I could remember. One of my best-friends lived on this street right above a bar.
Picture
If you look to the upper right, you can see The Landmark bar.
Picture
Oh West-Chester. If I hadn't spent most of my college days on this bar infested street, I might have finished and did better in school. Oh well, the drunk and wasted memories I cherish.
Picture
Again look to the upper right and you can see The Landmark bar.
Picture
And there it is in real life.
Picture
                          The clinic in the movie.
Picture
It's amazing what digital imagery can do. This is the spot but look how different it looks in the film.
Picture
Again look at the difference. They made it look bigger in the film and gave the place an extra door.
Picture
My old college roommate used to work at that Pretzel Factory.
Picture
How it looks during the day.
Picture
                       West-Chester the best Chester.
Picture
Identical pic as the one on the left.
Picture
                                                                                Background of the Dub-C.

RECYCLED MOVIE LOCATIONS

Zack and Miri Make A Porno 2008

Picture
Picture
Kevin Smith filmed this movie in the same mall as Dawn of the Dead. I believe he said "this was as close to a zombie movie I can make". He was obviously a fan.
Picture
There's no doubt it's the same mall. Look at the pillars.
Picture
                          Again showing the pillars.
Picture
                                   You get the idea.
Picture
                      On that damn escalator again.
Picture
                                The famous escalator.
Picture
On the escalator again. Look behind Seth, the pic on the right shows what they are.
Picture
The two blue castle like things.
Picture
                       Enough with the damn escalator.
Picture
Obviously a tribe to Dawn of the Dead. The hockey teams name is The Monroeville Zombies.

Killer Instinct 2000

Picture
Picture
A low budget horror film, shot in and around West-Chester. This film maker must be a huge fan of The Blob.
Picture
Walking out after He and Dee Wallace got into an argument.
Picture
Dee Wallace chasing after this dude.
Picture
And here we are, the same location as The Diner scenes in The Blob.
Picture
This dude looks like he wants to kill Dee Wallace.
Picture
I wonder if Chef got a nice chunk of change to let these guys film here.
Picture
This is towards the end of the movie, there's Chef's!
Picture
I'm gonna stop in there for lunch on my way home sometime and check out the inside.

More to Come....................
